The Story Behind 222: A Journey to Purpose, Passion, and Giving Back
Growing up, I always aspired to follow in my father’s footsteps and step into the world of finance. I pushed myself hard to excel at school and later at university, studying economics at the University of Warwick, where I graduated with a first-class degree. This commitment to learning opened the door to my first role in finance, a consulting position in credit risk modelling at PwC.
Working at PwC was incredibly rewarding, and I gained so much from my time there. I met and worked along side some of the brightest minds in the industry, I developed both the technical and interpersonal skills essential for consulting, and I loved the challenge of creating and reviewing various risk models. But in spite of the sense of accomplishment that came with each project, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. I didn’t feel fully alive in that role; I wanted my work to resonate on a deeper level.
Then, about a year into my career, I took a trip to Bali. That holiday changed everything. From the beautiful sunsets to the friendly people, laid-back lifestyle, Bali felt like home from the moment I arrived. I was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit and the focus on living life with purpose, fulfilment, and contentment. It was eye-opening to realise that a career could be about more than just ambition and 'success' — it could align with my values and passions. Six months later, I took the leap and made the choice to leave my job, move to Bali full-time, and pursue a path that felt more aligned with the person I wanted to become.
Jewellery has always been a part of my life. My step-mum and sister both have their own brands, and in recent years, I’d even helped them with their businesses, learning the ropes and developing a love for the craft. Jewellery became more than an accessory to me; it was a form of self-expression, a way to bring out my confidence and style.
The numbers 222 have resonated with me throughout my life. This combination of numbers holds deep meaning, representing balance, collaboration, alignment, love, and harmony — values I hope to infuse into every piece of jewellery I create. For me, 222 symbolises the kind of life I’m building in Bali and the essence of what I want to bring to others: jewellery that empowers and connects, grounded in harmony and intention.
The idea for 222 was born out of this passion for jewellery and my desire to create pieces that others could feel equally connected to. 222 became my vision for a brand that would not only deliver unique, meaningful jewellery but also give back to the community and the planet. Since moving to Indonesia, I’ve been fortunate to participate in charitable activities, like distributing toys to underprivileged children in Lombok. Witnessing their pure joy left a lasting impact on me. It made me realise that nothing I had ever done in corporate life compared to the sense of fulfilment that came from giving back.
Through 222, I want to help invest in impactful initiatives and multiply that joy. My hope is to support local children in Bali, giving them access to education and other resources to empower their future. Environmental protection is also vital to me, stemming from a childhood dream of becoming a marine biologist - I have always held a special place in my heart for wildlife and the environment. One example of how we could do this is by partnering with programs focused on mangrove restoration, as mangroves support local wildlife, protect coastal areas from extreme weather, and help combat climate change.
For me, 222 isn’t just a jewellery brand; it’s a mission. I want to provide you with high-quality, handcrafted pieces that speak to your individuality while also using the brand as a platform for positive change. When you choose 222, you’re choosing a piece of jewellery with a story, a purpose, and a commitment to giving back to our world.
